In
1971, the Cubex Company was established in
Winnipeg, Manitoba by two brothers, H.H. (Kitch)
Wilson and William (Bill) Wilson. Started as a
manufacturing company producing mining
equipment, the Company has expanded into
companion areas such as municipal and highway
maintenance equipment.
One of the initial overseas forays of the Cubex
Company was to India. With the assistance of
Mr.Hemant Shah, they achieved their first
success in selling its first Mining equipment to
Hindustan Copper Corporation, a major mining
company. Since then Cubex Company has grown by
leaps and bounds and is now exporting to more
than 29 countries worldwide. Presently we are
the world leaders in the Mining industry.
For more than 30 years, Cubex has been actively
involved in the contracting of services,
supplying of capital equipment, and in designing
and manufacturing equipment for the mining
industry around the world. Since the acquisition
of the Megamatic Drill Division from TRW Mission
Manufacturing Company, Cubex has moved
aggressively into the international mining
market. With Distributors in practically every
continent, Cubex Megamatic drills are operating
successfully in every major mining area around
the world.
Cubex Limited has a broad knowledge of the
drilling industry that goes to its roots. Twenty
five years ago, the company started out as a
drilling contractor. Today, the company is still
contracting its drilling services to the oil
field industry by supplying men and equipment
for specialized air drilling services to the oil
industry around the world. Each Megamatic drill
produced reflects the successful blending of
engineering excellence with the application
realities of the job site.
Cubex Canada has two divisions – Mining Division
that handles manufacturing of Mining Drill Rigs
and Municipal Division handling the Sales –
Service – Lease of New equipment and Refurbished
units.
The Wilson brothers, exemplify the true
entrepreneurial attitude. Through the course of
their business lives, they have never sought
financial support from any government agency,
provincial or federal.
What they have sought is information and support
for market evaluation and development purposes,
and some level of security when venturing into
new, uncharted terrain. Relying upon the
knowledge of Mr. Hemant Shah, the Cubex partners
became comfortable and trusting of two excellent
federal government agencies, the Export
Development Corporation (EDC) and the Department
of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT).
Having dealt with these professionals for many
years, the Cubex partners maintain their trust
in the support and information they receive from
these Canadian government departments.
Today, Cubex continues to have its headquarters
in Winnipeg in a 89,000 sq.ft. building, with a
second 32,000 sq.ft manufacturing facility in
Calgary. Additionally, there are three sales
offices in Canada, Sudbury, Ont., Vancouver,
B.C., and a 15,000 sq. ft. facility in Montreal
including a warehouse.
